Healthy Smile ~ Healthy Life!

If you struggle with dentures that slip and slide or if you are searching for a secure full-smile tooth replacement, implant dentures may be the right choice for you. Using dental implant posts, Dr. Michael McBride surgically attaches the dentures to the jawbone for a secure fit that is natural in appearance. We invite you to contact McBride Dental at 760-471-1003 and schedule a consultation with our dentist if you are considering implant dentures in San Marcos, California.

If you are looking for a stable, lasting solution for replacing multiple missing teeth, our dentist may recommend implant-supported dentures. Implant-retained dentures are very similar in form to traditional dentures. However, these dentures are stabilized by dental implants. Very often denture wearers complain that dentures become loose and “float” around the mouth, limiting their ability to eat and speak comfortably. Implant dentures are a cost-effective solution, and in some cases, we can actually retrofit an existing denture with implants.

The first step in anchoring your denture with dental implants is the placement of the implants. The dental implants, which are similar in appearance to screws, are surgically inserted into the jawbone. Next, they are securely anchored your denture. While the specific number of implants required will depend on your individual needs, most cases require 4-6 dental implants per denture. Once the implants have been placed and allowed sufficient healing time, your denture is attached on top.

Other alternatives

Also, there are other, quicker options available if your diagnosis qualifies. The doctor can perform “immediate load” implants where implants and the denture are placed at the same time.  This is often called All-on-4 or FTX.

All of these options provides your denture with exceptional stability. In fact, many patients report that their implant-retained dentures feel and function more like their natural teeth.
